About the School of Légéreté We are constantly and consistently seeking to improve both our horses and ourselves, as riders, trainers, equine partners! Our search led us to Philippe Karl's School of Légèreté / For The Horse, advocates of Classical Dressage. The philosophy of Légèreté is the absolute respect of horses and offers an understandable and reliable approach to riding and training with clear principles, efficient methods and procedures that fully respect the nature of each individual horse. Légèreté excludes the use of force or coercive artificial aids ( including side reins, draw reins, tight nose-bands, etc.) and includes all types of horses and applies to all equine disciplines. This method is not new, but actually very old and proven by past masters of the sport. In short, Légèreté doesn't just offer methods of riding and training that work for horses of all breeds and riders at all levels, it also opens the door to High School equitation for any seriously committed rider, even if you only have a very ordinary horse. Everything started to make sense as we began employing this method in training; we found more success with our horses, horses were less resistant and displayed more work ethic, and there were even improvements in the fitness, soundness and health of the horses. |
Erika has currently completed her third year teacher's course at the School of Légèreté.
